Growth Isn't Bought. It's Built. Why I'm Pivoting Grounded Growth Studio.
If you've been following along, you may have noticed Grounded Growth Studio has been a little quieter than usual lately.
That's not because I've run out of things to say.
It's because life has been moving at full speed.
Over the last few months, my family sold our home, packed up our lives, moved across town, celebrated an eighth-grade graduation, wrapped up another school year, managed dance competitions, volleyball, baseball, and all the beautiful chaos that comes with raising four kids.
If you're a parent, you know exactly what I'm talking about.
May isn't a month, it's a lifestyle. Or as the internet likes to call it: Maycember.
And while I've spent most of my career helping companies navigate periods of growth and transition, this spring reminded me that people go through growth and transition too.
Sometimes the most valuable thing that comes out of a busy season isn't productivity.
It's perspective.
When Life Forces You to Slow Down
I've spent much of the last few decades helping companies grow.
I've worked inside startups. I've worked inside large enterprises. I've built teams, launched campaigns, scaled programs, and sat in more growth planning meetings than I can count.
When I launched Grounded Growth Studio, my goal was simple.
I wanted to help growth-stage companies solve meaningful marketing challenges while creating a business that gave me flexibility, autonomy, and the opportunity to spend more time with my family.
At the time, the fractional CMO model made perfect sense.
Companies needed senior marketing leadership.
I had the experience to provide it.
Everyone wins.
And for a while, that's exactly how it worked.
I've had the privilege of working alongside some incredible founders, leadership teams, and organizations over the last few years. I've helped companies refine positioning, launch demand generation programs, improve marketing operations, build teams, evaluate technology, and solve all kinds of growth challenges.
I've genuinely loved the work.
But over time, I started noticing something.
Finding the Common Thread
Over the last few years, I've had the opportunity to help clients with a wide range of challenges.
Positioning.
Demand generation.
Team structure.
Marketing operations.
Technology decisions.
Content strategy.
Website projects.
Go-to-market planning.
And countless other initiatives that come with building and scaling a company.
I genuinely enjoy all of it.
But as I reflected on the client work I've been most energized by—and where we've consistently created the greatest impact—a clear pattern emerged.
Advertising.
Again and again, the most meaningful growth outcomes came from helping clients strengthen their advertising programs. Not because advertising is a silver bullet. But because when it's built on a strong foundation, it becomes one of the most measurable, scalable, and powerful growth levers available to a business.
The more I looked at the results we've helped clients achieve, the more obvious it became.
This is where Grounded Growth Studio creates the most value. This is where I create the most value. And this is the work I want to spend more time doing.
Growth Isn't Bought. It's Built.
As I reflected on the work Grounded Growth Studio has done over the last few years, I kept coming back to a phrase that's been rattling around in my head for months:
Growth isn't bought. It's built.
It's built through strong foundations.
It's built through testing.
It's built through learning.
It's built through measurement.
It's built through continuous improvement.
The best advertising programs I've seen weren't successful because they had the biggest budgets. They were successful because they had the discipline to learn.
They understood their audience.
They measured what mattered.
They optimized relentlessly.
They got a little bit better every month. That philosophy doesn't just apply to advertising. It applies to business, startups and even parenting.
And honestly, it perfectly reflects the reason I named this business Grounded Growth Studio in the first place.
What's Changing
With that in mind, I've decided to reposition Grounded Growth Studio around the work where we've consistently delivered the greatest impact for clients.
Going forward, we'll focus exclusively on paid advertising management and performance optimization.
We'll help growth-stage companies build, manage, and improve advertising programs across platforms like Google Ads and LinkedIn Ads.
This isn't a reaction to fractional marketing leadership. In fact, many of the insights that shaped this decision came directly from the incredible companies and leaders I've had the opportunity to support.
Rather, it's a recognition that when I look across the engagements that generated the clearest outcomes, the strongest momentum, and the most measurable business impact, a common thread emerges.
Advertising.
More specifically, helping companies create advertising programs that become more effective over time. Programs built on strong foundations, and data instead of guesswork.
Programs that continuously test, learn, and improve.
By narrowing our focus, I believe we'll be able to create even more value for clients while staying true to what Grounded Growth Studio has always been about: helping companies grow intentionally and sustainably.
What's Next
Over the coming weeks, you'll see updates to the Grounded Growth Studio website, messaging, and service offerings as we fully embrace this new direction.
To every client, partner, friend, and family member who has supported Grounded Growth Studio so far: thank you.
Your trust has shaped this business in ways you probably don't realize.
And to anyone navigating a season of change—whether it's a move, a new opportunity, a business pivot, or simply a reevaluation of what's important—don't be afraid to pay attention to the patterns.
Sometimes growth looks like adding more. Sometimes growth looks like focusing on less.
For me, this is one of those moments. Growth isn't bought, it's built.
And I'm excited for what's next.
